Why does a replacement module in HDTV not the same?

An authorized Samsung service tech told me that my module in my HDTV had to be replaced. He told me the cost and he gave me the part number and ordered it. It is not the same as the original because the Perfect Focus button does not work and when you click on it it says “No Sensor Data”. The tech told me my TV is an older model and that the replacement part has the same module # but it is different. I cannot use Perfect Focus.

After he installed, he told me the part was automatic – now the pictures on the TV are sometimes not focused, too much color, too pale colors, etc.

I knew something was kinda strange because once he was finished, he told me had to program the convergence – well he got to the screen – but 1st screen was black and white with the square pointer moving from left to right down to the bottom of the screen, then the screen changed to a magenta color and after that it went back to the black and white. He told me it was automatic.
