Awesome video! Very clear.I have a question though. When I was making the Slip Stitch, It was always at the ends going up to a triangle shape; not a square:[. Why does this happen and how can I fix it? Thanks:]]
Hi Stacey (& Doodlebug). I agree! I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to learn to crochet, but I’ve never managed. I can’t connect instructions or diagrams to what happens when I’m trying to co-ordinate yarn and hook; and I get nervous when anyone shows me – fumble fumble oops nyaargh!!! Now I’ve got a good basic book: GETTING STARTED crochet by Judith L. Swartz, my inspiring friend at my local knitting and crochet group, and Theresa in slow motion with Replay button. Progress at last. =)
I love your video. I have a question. Some videos show skipping TWO chains when you turn on double crochet and you skip THREE. Three leaves a bigger hole at end—what do I do?
I’m a new grandmother, I want to make a baby blanket for my granddaughter but I don’t know how to go about it, I would really appreciate it if you could post a video on how to make a simple baby blanket.
Theresa, Thanks so much for this video, your instruction was so vauleable to me, I have never crocheted before and u just taught me how to double crochet a scarf..your video was the best one out there for me to learn from, the others were too fast and Im a slow learner. Thanks so much…
Hello Theresa,
I stumbled upon your videos just now, and want to say a big thank you. I haven’t picked picked up my hooks since just before my son was birn – that was July 1974. LOL
May I ask you, please, do you use very thin yarn or a pretty thread, and if so, have you ever considered designing for larger fashion dolls, please?
I would LOVE to re-learn how to crochet. I was thinking maybe if I did something as that, I might actually finish it. ^_^
Will you teach us how to do this, please?
I just wanted to say thank-you for this video. I found it to be extreemly helpful on teaching the dc. I dont learn well by reading and only by seeing something done do I understand, so this video was very helpful! Thanks again and great job!
I’m Italian and not speak English, I use the Google translator, forgive the mistakes. I’m good at knitting and crochet, work for many years, but since humans can not know everything, you and your videos I have learned new techniques and methods, many thanks and best wishes for a wonderful new year
Thank you. Do you also have a video on how to tie in the ends when changing colors on a blanket or just tying in the ends. For years and years i just knot and weave in but little ends pop out and it looks ugly…i dont know what else to try. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me
The chain 3 will count as the first double crochet. You will not put a double crochet in the chain at the beginning of the row. What you do is work the double crochet in the next stitch. Count your stitches as you are working the row so you know your count is accurate. That should eliminate the diagonal.
I new to this but I think I know what has happened. The skip 4 stiches is only on the chain, the very first time you flip your work.
After you have completed your first row of “crochets” you will not need to skip any more. Watch the video again, and see if this helps.
First of all I want to thank you for such an informative video. My problem is that i have about 12 rows done and i am noticing that it is going up in a diagonal on the sides. Seems i am adding stiches or something. I chain 3 turn and go into the 4th stitch, but i think my counting is wrong do i count from the chain that is on my hook? Plus at the end of a row i am going into the “chain 3″ part and creating a stitch from that. I know im doing something wrong. Please help
Skipping stitches will depend on the pattern and stitch that you are using. If you are making a scarf out of single crochet, you will not skip any stitches.
hello, i am 11 years old and i am trying to make a scarf for my mom for christmas. But i need some help. First of all why do u have to skip stitches? Someone told me u don’t have to. Please help me!
You are welcome.
