I’ve visited Newfoundland twice and still can’t quite grasp this accent / language of theirs aka Newfinese. On my last trip I asked two friends of mine Mark Critch a famous Canadian Comedian and Actor known for his hilarious portrayal of various Canadian Politicians and other characters on the TV show This Hour Has 22 Minutes and famous Newfoundlander and Travel Blogger Candice Walsh of www.CandiceDoesTheWorld.com . @allysonwheelie No Allyson I believe it’s called India because the type of beer “India Pale Ale” was originally brewed? in the UK and was exported to India and the way it was made made it last longer and kept better/longer as it was sent to India – search “India Pale Ale” on wikipedia and you will see more info
Is it called India, because when the? explorers first came here, they thought it was India? (they called aboriginals “Indians”?)
im from? newfoundland and i dont really have the accent but i can totally understand it
If your not born in Newfoundland? you can’t understand us lol
@BIGBOWLSMOKER yeah…sort of went off topic. you? dont go on the jigs after da beer you’d yuck up yer guts
Newfounland is so awesome! The people who live there are one of the most amazing people in the world. They’re extremely genereous.? very friendly and boy do they know how to party!?
@BIGBOWLSMOKER
Ah. No. Its pretty dead on.
You can’t overdo the accent. No matter how insane you try to make it sound, there is somebody out there who is even more incomprehensible than? you could ever be.
I was born in Newfoundland and i know i mean i know when i say i know,i know i do NOT have an accent! well maybe a little but i sound? like my flordian friend
“You might have yer hospital, but we has? the school.”
I fucking laughed so much, reminds me of my community.

ive gone to cadet camp in NB and most of the people there where from? NFLD ive gone to that camp for about 6ish years. and some words stuck. i find myself calling St John or St. Johns, St. Jahn or st Jahns. with a “a” sound in it i cant say it like a mainlander anymore (im from mainland Nova Scotia). ill put s’ at the end of my nouns without realizing it sometimes. since i got alot of friends from newfoundland sometimes ill say “waddya at”
Actually, us? Newfies aren’t that hard to understand. You just have to know english!
@BIGBOWLSMOKER B’y*? Whaddya*

I have no problem understanding them, and I don’t think they sound that odd, haha. Guess I can’t tell since I’m a newfoundlander myself, but my “accent” isn’t this strong….I don’t think.?
There’s an app? for that! look up “Newfoundland” for iphone or android. It’s called Whaddaya App?

I lvie on the west side of canada? AND HOLY SHIT
Ha, Ha, Ha. very informative & entertaining video. As all Newfoundlanders know Newfoundland is many things to many people. There are originally the English, French,Portugese, Irish came in the days of the early 1800′s bacallieu fishery, a smattering of chinese found their way there and in 1938 a Mr. Davis was the only African American man on the island.? also recordings were done in 1960′s in outports of rare authentic dialects dating back hundreds of years before electric, radio or television.
He took my joke..I’ve been saying I don’t eat cod tongues,? moose tongue etc….cause I don’t eat that can taste me back for years. I’m suing.
