Re: Nothing is working for my baby’s diaper rash. What can I do?

You have a great question about diaper rash, something that a lot of parents are going to deal with because the main ingredients for a diaper rash are heat and moisture, which is what a diaper is all about. There are three main causes of rashes in the diaper area. Number one is irritation which is what most parents think about and see with their kids. Sometimes it can be an allergic reaction. Occasionally there are other illnesses that can cause it and the third most common one is a fungal infection. Remember your ABC’s when treating diaper rash. A stands for air dry. It’s great a couple of times a day to take the diaper off and even if you need to pull out the blow dryer on the cold setting and make sure that their bottom is totally dry before you put a diaper back on. B stands for barrier creams. The best creams you want to look for are those with zinc oxide and there’s lots of different brands that have this ingredient in it. But the ones that are thicker are better than the ones that are creamy because the creams just tend to run off their skin and into the diaper. And you can also put some vaseline over the sites that are starting to become extra red and that can also help act as a great barrier too. C stands for clean skin well. Use warm water and a soft cloth. Avoid alcohol based wipes because they’ll really sting their skin if you touch the irritated area with them. D stands for disposable diapers. If you are using cloth diapers and your child has a diaper rash
