I have a HP Mini with a 16GB SSD drive running Windows XP. I want to clone the entire Drive and store it on an external Hard Drive before upgrading to Windows 7. Today I bought a Compaq notebook PC which has Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic pre-installed (genuine). I had to manually create a 'Recovery Disk' using a Compaq utility (which is also pre-installed on the system). I've seen that HP, Sony & Toshiba laptops come with a 'Recovery DVD' already bundled with them. Since the cost of blank DVDs is so low, why doesn't Compaq bundle them with their laptop computers? Why try to save some cents, and cause the user unnecessary (and avoidable) hassle? Som...

I have a HP Pavilion dv6602a Entertainment Notebook. It came with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I wrote the Restore discs using the utility provided by HP and stored them somewhere. Later, I formatted the C: and created custom partitions for installing Windows XP and Linux. Now, I want to revert to Windows Vista but cannot find my restore discs :( There is an option for booting from the restore partition on the hard disk (I kept it intact).
